Together, We’re Building a Stronger Path Home

In 2025, Family Promise of Irving took a major step forward in how we serve families with children experiencing a housing crisis. We transitioned from our former rotating church shelter model to a static-site shelter, creating a more consistent, stable, and supportive environment for families as they work toward self-sufficiency.

Through our shelter program, we served 5 families—5 adults and 12 children—providing a safe place to stay while parents worked to secure stable employment, build savings, and move toward permanent housing. One of those families successfully transitioned into our Transitional Housing Program, moving into our mobile home unit with affordable rent while continuing to work toward long-term stability and permanent housing.

But our work doesn’t stop at shelter.

In 2025, we launched Meals of Promise, a new food support program created to help families experiencing food insecurity, including families facing delays in SNAP benefits. Through this program, we served 55 families with groceries and essential food support.

And the need in our community is significant.

Last year, approximately 350 families reached out through our online Get Help form, while our office received approximately 1,200 calls for assistance. When we couldn’t provide direct shelter or services, we worked to connect families with organizations and resources that could help. More than 600 referrals were made to community partners and other service providers.

These numbers represent more than statistics. They represent parents trying to keep their children safe, families struggling to afford groceries, and neighbors doing everything they can to find stable housing.

Our community also continued to show up for families in meaningful ways. Through our first Cook-Off, 2nd Annual Community Garage Sale, and collaborative Car Wash with Quick Quack, we raised nearly $7,500 to support families experiencing a housing crisis. These events were about more than fundraising—they helped us build relationships, engage volunteers, and strengthen the community of support surrounding the families we serve.

Community volunteers and partners also provided meals, groceries, hygiene supplies, and other essential items. These partnerships allow us to stretch every dollar further and provide families with the practical support they need during difficult seasons.
