Studies conducted by the Veterans Administration have shown how instrumental canines can be in preventing veteran suicide. Faithful Friend has for decades been conducting its program, which, among other achievements, has been 100% successful in preventing our participants from harming themselves. Through the years of our program’s existence, no participant has committed suicide.
When disabled veterans gain the tools to encourage their dogs to go beyond simple dog behavior to learning and enacting life saving measures, miracles happen.
Dogs become medical alert specialists. They can bring their humans safely over any terrain, curbs, stairs, and even escalators.
Our canines can smell when we are sick, hear approaching danger, and sense when we need help. Many of our team members go into hospice facilities, nursing homes, and hospitals, and their impact shows.

Urbanized dogs are calm in crowded and noisy places including trains and airplanes. When those places can be overwhelmingly stressful to us, our dogs can learn how to calm us down.
All of these extraordinary talents require time to develop and experienced trainers to bring the best out in the dogs. Not all dogs can become service dogs, but all dogs can benefit their human partners by learning how to behave correctly. It is those partners and companions that save veterans’ lives.
If you are a veteran, come join us. We will give you the tools to turn your dog into sustainable support for you. If you love dogs and love helping them to find incredible purpose in their lives, please help us to help veterans with your financial support.
