Fort Worth Classic Guitar Society will use NTGD donations to fulfill our mission presenting classical and other related music for guitar, and to provide educational opportunities in the North Texas region. Now in our thirtieth year, we have consistently served many thousands of North Texans, as well as visitors to our area. Since 1995 we have produced more than 400 formal concerts and approximately 3000 outreach programs in schools, community centers, retirement facilities, and other venues. We regularly host masterclasses with the international touring artists we book on our Allegro Guitar Series.
Our Café Concerts at the Kimbell Art Museum Café are a very popular way for patrons to enjoy beautiful guitar music in an informal setting where they can have a light meal, coffee, wine, and desserts. We perform about 26 Café Concerts every year. We also provide informal performing opportunities for local and regional players of all levels at our Open Play held the 2nd Sunday of each month. The mission of the Fort Worth Classic Guitar Society (DBA: Allegro Guitar Society) is to foster interest in and appreciation of the classic guitar; to increase awareness of existing classic guitar repertoire and to encourage creation of new classic guitar repertoire; to present distinguished concert artists and composers; and to encourage and support the training, development, and professional education of aspiring professional classic guitarists.
Our greatest need is to communicate with the public to let them know we are here. After decades of operation, most of the public doesn't know about us. We encounter people who say, "I didn't know we have a guitar society." Unfortunately, it is very expensive to advertise but we're going to partner with a very savvy social media expert.
