Exodus is a Dallas-based nonprofit that walks alongside formerly incarcerated single mothers as they rebuild their lives, reunite with their children, and create a new future for their families. Through safe housing, supportive relationships, professional services, and a caring community, mothers are given the opportunity to heal, grow, and establish lasting stability. Located in downtown Dallas, the Exodus property provides a secure place where families can reconnect and begin breaking cycles of incarceration, poverty, and family separation. Each mother participates in a year-long residential program designed to support long-term transformation for both her and her children.
Exodus is a residential program that requires commitment, accountability, and a willingness to embrace lasting change. Each mother accepted into the program is welcomed into her own fully furnished apartment, creating a stable place where she and her children can begin rebuilding their lives together. Before a family arrives, volunteers, churches, businesses, and community groups prepare each apartment with care -- cleaning, furnishing, decorating, and stocking it with essential household items. When a mother walks through her door for the first time, she finds not only a home, but tangible evidence that a community of people is already cheering for her success.
While Exodus invests deeply in each mother, the impact extends to her children as well. As mothers grow in stability, health, and confidence, children experience the benefits of having a parent who is present, engaged, and consistently available in their lives. Families begin rebuilding trust, strengthening relationships, and creating new patterns that can shape their future for generations to come.
Throughout the year, resident families are supported through a comprehensive network of services designed to foster long-term growth and stability. Mothers receive individualized case management, professional counseling, personal mentoring, parenting support, and practical life-skills development. Children also benefit from age-appropriate programming, counseling resources, and caring adult relationships. Together, these services create an environment where families can heal, grow, and move toward a healthier future. Exodus also offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals, churches, businesses, and community groups who want to be part of that transformation. Please see below.

Exodus provides a year-long residential program for formerly incarcerated single mothers who desire to reunite with their children and build a new future for their families. The journey is not easy. Meaningful change requires commitment, courage, and perseverance. At Exodus, women are surrounded by the relationships and resources needed to do that difficult work. Case managers, counselors, mentors, volunteers, and children's program leaders walk alongside each family throughout the process.
At the heart of Exodus is a simple belief: transformation happens in community. The relationships formed among resident families, staff, volunteers, mentors, and supporters create an environment where mothers and children can rebuild trust, strengthen family bonds, and move toward a healthier future together.
