🎭 About Ennis Public Theatre

Celebrating 20 years of storytelling, Ennis Public Theatre began in a modest space on the edge of town. Today, we welcome audiences to our state-of-the-art theater in historic downtown Ennis, a vibrant cultural hub we have called home since 2017.

Over the years, we have proudly produced more than 100 mainstage productions. Our downtown venue has allowed us to significantly expand our audience, attract premier acting talent from across the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, and launch thriving children's theater workshops.

Our Pillars of Excellence

  • Artistic Quality & Hospitality: We strive for excellence in every department, from high-caliber stage production design to providing the friendliest box office customer service in the South Dallas area.
  • Strategic Leadership: Our dedicated Board of Directors collaborates closely with our Artistic Directors and Business Manager to ensure sustainable growth and a bright future for our theater family.
  • Community Impact: We touch the lives of over 1,000 people annually through our mainstage performances, our transformative Young Artists Program, and our community engagement initiatives.

Powered by Volunteers

Most importantly, volunteers are the heartbeat of our organization. We rely heavily on the dedication of our actors, stagehands, parents, and community members to create the magic on our stage. Without their tireless support, we could not continue bringing the absolute best live entertainment to North Texas.

Our Needs

2026 has been an amazing, record-breaking year!

Audiences completely packed the house for our high-energy production of 9 to 5 and the enchanting youth production of Into the Woods JR. Captivating runs of Steel Magnolias and the hilarious Farce of Nature delivered the perfect balance of laughter and heart. Because of your incredible local support, almost every single show this season achieved complete sell-out status.

Our Growth & The Challenges It Brings
A historic number of actors are auditioning, filling our stage with fresh talent. Word-of-mouth is rapidly spreading, drawing in both new performers and larger audiences. While we celebrate this growth, it also means our operational costs are rising.

To keep theater accessible to everyone, we continue to offer Pay-What-You-Can tickets so income is never a barrier to the arts. We still have two excellent shows left in our 2026 season: An Old Fashioned Family Murder and our holiday favorite, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

How Your North Texas Giving Day Gift Helps
Theater is so much more than actors on a stage. Your donation directly funds the vital resources needed to keep our curtains rising. Your gifts allow us to:

  • Keep Participation Free: We provide volunteer actors and technical staff the opportunity to participate in our productions at zero cost while learning professional skills.
  • Nurture Young Talent: Expand our educational programs to grow the next generation of young artists.
  • Invest in Production Value: Fund rising costs for scripts, royalties, costumes, sets, and lighting to match our growing audience demands.

We do what we do for you, our community—but we cannot do it without you. Please consider making a gift today to help us continue to educate, entertain, and inspire!

Mission

In a spirit of benevolence, excellence, and integrity, to use our talents and the collective talents of those who serve with us to produce the highest quality live intimate theatre in the Southwest. To create an environment for performers that will foster growth and achievement, and to be a destination for many who would experience a stream of artistic life and vitality that will entertain, educate, encourage and inspire.

Needs

Where Your Donation Goes

Producing high-quality theater requires a significant investment, with costs ranging between $3,000 and $10,000 for every single show. Your North Texas Giving Day contribution directly funds the tangible elements that make our performances possible. From critical show licensing and scripts to set construction, costumes, props, staff salaries, and daily operational supplies, every dollar you give translates directly into theatrical magic on our stage.
