agora (n): a gathering space; a site for connection

Agora Artists gathers people—dancers, dancemakers, creatives, community members—in light of a common goal: a thriving dance ecosystem in Dallas-Fort Worth.  An arts service organization built by dancers for dancers, Agora is committed to building infrastructure for local independent dance artists to have sustainable, fulfilling careers.

Our community provides an unwavering container for art and creativity—a metaphorical place that exists when we come together.

Our programs

SEEDS

A new works incubator.  Each year, SEEDS gives a cohort of emerging choreographers access to mentorship, funding, creative workshops, and rehearsal space in support of their choreographic process, culminating in a weekend of fully produced concerts at Arts Mission Oak Cliff.  Choreographers leave the program with an invigorated creative process, a toolbox for self-producing their work, and connection with a diverse community of dancers and collaborators.  SEEDS not only uplifts choreographic voices, but also provides local dancers the opportunity to perform and expand their careers.

Dallas Indie Dance Fest

Where emerging and established dance artists gather with their community to share their work.  Established in 2025, DIDF is a multi-concert, multi-program festival that showcases the diverse body of voices integral to DFW’s dance ecosystem.  Aimed to spotlight dance works from a wide range of artists, the festival has presented dance works from emerging creatives, seasoned professionals, educators, and students.

Mini Movement Fest

Our annual day of connection.  Mini Movement Fest, held at our home base Arts Mission Oak Cliff, brings artists, audiences, and community members together to engage in workshops, performances, and shared experiences that dissolve barriers between performer and participant. The event embodies Agora’s belief that dance is most powerful when it invites everyone to move, witness, and belong.

Why is your gift important?

Your donation directly supports a thriving dance community in DFW beyond what we see on stage.  Funding goes towards subsidizing rehearsal space for developing choreographers, producing new dance works, mentorship programs, and bringing dance artists to the area to lead workshops and perform.  Your gift also allows us to keep our programming financially accessible; we at Agora believe that everyone should have access to dance, dancing, and the community we create through it.
