DFW Wildlife Coalition, Inc is a nonprofit providing a solution-driven wildlife hotline for the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area and the surrounding twenty counties in North Texas. Our virtual wildlife hotline is one-of-a-kind nationwide and is active 365 days a year from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Central Time, offering guidance for wildlife emergencies, concerns, and conflicts.
As the human population of North Texas grows, so does the number of human-wildlife interactions and hotline calls. The DFW Wildlife Coalition Hotline began in January of 2003 with three hundred telephone calls. Today, twenty-two years later, the hotline has responded to over 13,000 calls since January. Each call typically involves one or more animals, such as a nest of baby bunnies, birds, or a family of raccoons. Each call provides life-saving information that reduces orphaning and euthanasia of our Texas native wildlife.
The DFW Wildlife Coalition Hotline is only possible with the help of donations and volunteers. We are 100% volunteer-operated and receive no agency funding. We depend on individual donations and occasional grants, so your contribution makes a huge impact.
Our hotline volunteers:
- Provide callers with guidance when a wildlife rescue is appropriate and provide a referral to a specialized permitted wildlife rehabilitator.
- Identify and advise how and when to reunite wild babies with their moms. This directly reduces the number of kidnapped or orphaned wild babies.
-
Educate on the value of our wild neighbors and reduce unfounded fears, provide humane solutions to wildlife conflicts, and keep animals and humans safe.
