Your gift sustains a ministry outpost to thousands of college students. Your gift ensures a safe and welcoming home for college students in need of healing from adverse religious experiences. It supplies food and comfort to young people supporting themselves through school. It shares Christ's hopeful future with our students, and enables them to embody Christ's hopeful future for themselves, each other, the Church, and the world.
Our Goals this North TX Giving Day:
1) Fund our growing food ministry demands: We serve more than 200 free meals a week on campus through our burger cook outs before worship and our free lunch program during Open Doors. Additionally, our food pantry provides free groceries to a growing number of clients. The more students we reach, the higher our financial goals must climb.
2) Launch a new ministry in Gainesville: Working with local churches, student leaders, and campus staff, we've started a Bible Study at North Central Texas College's Gainesville campus this fall. We are developing a Lions for Christ chapter which will provide outreach, fellowship, and spiritual formation in Gainesville that is currently offered at other campuses.
3) Sustain our mental health support programs: Through a grant-funded pilot program, we were able to offer free individual therapy and spiritual direction to students under-deserved by campus resources and those who had exhausted their allotted sessions on campus as well as group workshops on mental and spiritual health topics. We are thrilled to continue and grow this program that is offering God's healing and guidance with licensed mental health professionals.
The Denton Wesley Foundation is a United Methodist Campus Ministry serving University of North Texas, Texas Woman's University, and North Central Texas College. We exist to embody Christ's radical love on campus and empower a new generations of faithful leaders.
The Denton Wesley Foundation affirms the inherent worth of all people created in God's image. We acknowledge and lament the historical and current inequity which demeans God's children. Racism - systemic, subconscious, intentional, or other - is a significant, ongoing, and present evil. Intersectional oppression cries for our attention and action. The Denton Wesley Foundation is committed to partnering with God to build a world where the sacredness of black and brown lives is valued and the safety, actualization, and thriving of black and brown lives is ensured.
