The Denton Black Film Festival was created to highlight the richness of Black storytelling in film and media and to share these stories with broad audiences. Today, DBFF is the largest Black film festival in Texas and the Southwest. Through the Denton Black Film Festival Institute, we offer screenings, workshops, and opportunities for filmmakers and creatives of all backgrounds.
Our mission is to educate, entertain, and inspire.
We share stories of the Black community – it’s traditions, ideas and experiences – in a multitude of ways through our programming and experiences.
DBFF is entering into its 13 year of programming and the festival is seeking funding for the 2027 festival.
DBFF financial position is positive and the festival anticipates a strong financial year in financial support including grants, donations, sponsorship, ticket sales and attendance.
