Urgent Appeal: Help Us Provide Lifesaving Medical Care for Our Animals
Dear Friends of DAWG,
At DAWG, we have a mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need. Every day, we witness the incredible resilience and spirit of animals who have endured abandonment, abuse, and neglect. Many of these animals arrive at our shelter requiring urgent medical attention, and it is our commitment to provide them with the care they need to heal and thrive.
However, we cannot do this alone.
Our medical fund is depleting rapidly, and we are reaching out to you, our compassionate community, to help us raise funds to ensure that we can continue to provide essential medical care to every animal that comes through our doors.
The Need for Medical Care
Animals like Sweetie, a sweet senior girl, who was brought to us with heartworms and a painful ear condition , are why we exist. Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, Sweetie received surgical care and heartworm treatment, and is now on the road to recovery and a loving forever home.
But there are many more animals just like Sweetie who need our help. Each day, we face cases requiring:
- Emergency Surgeries: Critical operations to save lives and alleviate suffering.
- Chronic Condition Management: Ongoing treatments for animals with diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses.
- Routine Medical Care: Vaccinations, spaying/neutering, dental care, and wellness exams to keep our animals healthy.

DAWG is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of pets in need. We assist the city of Denison ensuring no healthy, adoptable pets are euthanized for lack of space.
Needs
The number of homeless animals in our community has reached a critical level. Every day, we receive calls about animals in desperate situations—those who have been abandoned, those suffering from neglect, and those injured and in need of urgent medical care. Our current facilities are stretched to their limits, and without increased funding, we face the heartbreaking reality of having to turn away animals in need.
Current Challenges
Overcrowded Facilities: Our shelter is operating at maximum capacity, often housing animals in makeshift spaces. This overcrowding not only compromises the welfare of the animals but also limits our ability to accept new rescues.
Insufficient Medical Resources: Many animals arrive with serious medical conditions requiring immediate and costly veterinary care. Our medical fund is depleting rapidly, and we are struggling to provide the necessary treatments.
Inadequate Staffing and Volunteer Support: Our dedicated team is overworked, and we lack the funds to hire additional staff or adequately support our volunteers. This affects the quality of care and the efficiency of our operations.
Limited Outreach and Education Programs: Community education is vital to prevent neglect and abuse. However, our outreach programs are severely underfunded, hindering our ability to raise awareness and promote responsible pet ownership.
