Needs
We have been graced with the opportunity to expand our mission by supporting former foster youth ages 18-24 who desire to pursue post-secondary education through our flagship program initiative, "Finally Home at Rachel's House."
This Supervised Independent Living (SIL) program is designed to serve vulnerable young adults through safe housing, comprehensive life skills training, personal mentoring, and faith-based empowerment to help them transition into thriving, independent adulthood. Young adults age out of foster care each year with little to no support. One in four will be homeless within two years of exiting foster care. Fewer than 6% complete college. The gap isn’t just housing—it’s adulting skills, mentorship, and opportunity. That’s where DEE steps in. The "Finally Home at Rachel's House" SIL Program fills critical service gaps by addressing the whole person--their skills, mindset, identity, trauma, education, relationships and purpose. This program is not just a place to live; it's a place to transform.
There are several ways to contribute—by volunteering for project completion (lawncare, building decks, etc. And of course by donating items, purchasing gift cards, or giving financially.
In addition to monetary contributions, our greatest needs include: indoor (i.e. living, dining, bedroom) and outdoor furniture, home décor, twin-sized bedding, household appliances (i.e. washer & dryer, microwave, irons, refrigerator, deep freezer),kitchen and cookware, health and beauty products, electronics (i.e. televisions, computers, printers), dorm room essentials (i.e. closet organizers, desks, shelving/wall mounts), bath towels, shower curtains, stationary supplies (i.e. pens, pencils, highlighters, notebooks), and multi-purpose cleaning supplies.
