Support Deaf Action Center!

September is Deaf Awareness Month. As we celebrate the contributions of deaf individuals this September, we’d like to specifically honor those in our community who use ASL. While ASL is viewed as a beautiful language to those outside deaf communities, most people don’t realize that it is often used against those who depend on it. Deaf communities in the United States and in North Texas are being deprived of opportunities, resources, and the ability to succeed because they use a different language—American Sign Language.
Your donation to Deaf Action Center helps make North Texas a more accessible place for deaf people to thrive. You have a vital role in ensuring deaf North Texans live in a place that is safe and supportive of their needs and dreams. Thank you for your donation and Happy NTX Giving Day!
Providing those who are deaf and hard of hearing the means to ensure advancement through education, economic security, and good health.
At Deaf Action Center we stand on our three pillars of service: Advocacy, Communication, and Empowerment (A.C.E.). We serve over 4,000 Deaf and Hard of Hearing community members annually and remain one of the only places in north Texas where a person can enter a building and use their native language, American Sign Language, when seeking assistance. Whether through our senior services, housing supports or advocacy team, ASL classes and interpreting, we equip those who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing with the skills, resources, and information they need to navigate life.
For more than 45 years, Deaf Action Center (DAC) has empowered and equipped deaf individuals and families throughout North Texas. DAC has chosen to use one term—deaf—with the goal of recognizing experiences that are shared by all members of these diverse communities while also honoring their differences. Deaf communities in North Texas are made up of children, adults, seniors, and families of all sorts. Deafness knows no age, color, gender, race, religion, or sexuality, and Deaf Action Center is committed to serving anyone who comes to us looking for support.
