Dallas Junior Forum is now Dallas Service Forum
Same mission; Same members; Same commitment to Service from the Heart
Dallas Service Forum (DSF), a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1977 as Dallas Junior Forum (DJF) to create greater interest among women in civic, educational, and philanthropic endeavors in the North Texas community through volunteer work focused on children, families and the elderly. DJF was one of nine chapters of Junior Forum, Inc. (JFI), a Texas-based service organization originating in Houston in 1959.
In 2021, our membership voted to withdraw from JFI to keep all resources in our local community for the benefit of our partner agencies Dallas Children's Advocacy Center, The Ebby House, The Family Place, Hope's Door New Beginnings Center, Juliette Fowler Communities, Network of Community Ministries, and Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. With that decision came the name change to Dallas Service Forum and a new logo. Our focus, mission, organization, and activities remain the same.
During the pandemic, the creativity, optimism, and dedication of our members enabled us to safeguard the identity and viability of our Mission: Build a Community of Volunteers to serve Dallas Area Youths, Families and Elderly. We organized meal deliveries, wrote hundreds of notes of encouragement and donated supplies and necessities to our partner agencies. Through an online virtual fundraising event we were able to provide grants to our agencies for necessities. Throughout 2019 - 2022, the women of Dallas Service Forum contributed 23,607 volunteer hours to our partner agencies resulting in $653,000 in savings in staff, wages, taxes and employment benefit expenses. During that period, DSF awarded more than $153,600 in grants and other funding providing a total value of $807,000 to the Dallas Community.
Dallas Service Forum was honored to be recognized by former Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings for our 40 years of service and financial support to worthy non-profit organizations throughout North Texas. Monetary allocation for grants and other funding has been a direct result of profits from our annual Spring or Fall Fundraiser and various other fundraising events.
