Where We Started
The Dallas Brass Band was formed in 2017 as an outreach project of the Salvation Army, with the organization initially providing a rehearsal venue and equipment. The Dallas Brass Band has routinely participated in concerts to support the fundraising efforts for the Salvation Army. These include a holiday concert every year in December, as well as the 2023 Remembrance Day to celebrate Veteran's Day with the Salvation Army, where all proceeds went to veterans organizations in the Dallas area. The Dallas Brass Band is based in the British brass band tradition and consists of over 30 brass and percussion musicians from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Where We Are Today
In only a few short years since its creation, the Dallas Brass Band has grown into a leading brass band in the United States. The band was named 1st Section Champions at the North American Brass Band Championships at the band's very first contest in 2022 and was nominated for the “Lower Section Band Of The Year” award by the brass band website “4BarsRest” the same year. The band today competes among the highest sections of contests including the Championship Section at the North American Brass Band Championships and Division I of the US Masters Championships. Our mission continues to provide inspiring music and education to North Texas while providing our musicians, students, and audiences an opportunity to experience the excitement of a traditional British brass band setting.

Our Reach
The band is known for providing captivating concerts and meaningful educational experiences. In 2022, the Dallas Brass Band was invited to give a clinic and performance at the Texas Music Educators Association Conference in San Antonio. The band provides performances and educational opportunities for students and audiences of all ages across the North Texas at venues such as the Murchison Performing Arts Center at the University of North Texas, The Dallas Arboretum, the Carroll ISD Fine Arts Complex, the South Irving Library, Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, and the Ed Landreth Auditorium at Texas Christian University.  The band regularly performs among senior living centers in North Texas and is committed to growing our reach across North Texas.

Dallas Youth Brass Band
The Dallas Brass Band is committed toward nurturing the next generation of brass and percussion musicians of North Texas by fostering a passion for excellence and a lifelong appreciation for the brass band tradition. To this end, the Dallas Brass Band has created the Dallas Youth Brass Band to provide an unparalleled educational experience, mentorship from our accomplished musicians, and a supportive community where young artists can develop their skills, creativity, and musical leadership. Through our devotion to artistic growth and personal development, we aim to create a vibrant and inclusive environment that celebrates and enriches the cultural fabric of our region.

Mission

The Dallas Brass Band is committed to supporting and advancing North Texas cultural interests through the performance of a wide range of brass band music while fostering youth participation leading to excellence in our community's music programs.

Needs

Your generous contributions help us grow our capacity to reach more students and larger audiences throughout North Texas. Here’s how your donation can make an impact:

*Support programs that introduce students to brass band music through workshops and community events.

*Provide scholarships for underprivileged students to participate in our Dallas Youth Brass Band.

*Fund free or low-cost public performances to bring brass music to a wider audience across North Texas.

*Acquire specialized brass band instruments that are not typically found in school music programs, such as cornets and tenor horns.

*Support partnerships with local community centers, schools, and senior homes to bring music to those who may not have easy access to live performances.

*Expand our collection of diverse and challenging pieces to enhance our repertoire and audience experience.

*Support administrative costs necessary to run a growing non-profit organization, including staff, marketing, and outreach while enabling strategic planning and development to expand our reach and impact.
