$5,000 Goal
The Doss Heritage and Culture Center opened in 2006 and has grown into a 10 acre complex in Weatherford Texas. Our goal is to bring history to life through engaging education program, exhibits, preservation, and living history. In 2015, we began a project to bring 5 historic log cabins to the museum complex. As of 2020, 4 cabins have been moved to the property and are being restored. We host weekly and monthly programs for children and families that connect them to the rich heritage in our community.
We are currently raising funds to complete our Pioneer Cabin Park in 2022. We also are raising funds to expand our growing education program both at the museum and our outreach program to area schools including digital outreach.
The mission of the James and Dorothy Doss Heritage and Culture Center is to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of Parker County through cultural and educational events that raise community awareness and pride in our western heritage.
Double your impact and help us finish the story and save Parker County History with your best gift today!
Since 2016 we have been diligently working on this new addition to the Museum, raising funds as we went in a grassroots effort to keep the Pioneer history of Parker County alive and well. Many of you have visited the park over the past few years by attending events like Pioneer Heritage Fest, Heritage Christmas, or any of our educational programs; and have seen for yourselves the steady growth as we have added new cabins one by one, and brought them to life for the community to enjoy.
We have come to the point in our project where we are ready to finish the park to be fully open to the public with no admission fees just like our museum. We are in a sense ‘Reviving our Roots’ as we take project to the next level of its potential growth.
As we prepare for the final phase of the project, we are calling on our supporters to give a gift that will make an impact. In fact, we have a way to double that gift because of community leaders who have seen this project grow and have made the pledge to match any contributions up to $250,000. We have $41,706.44 left to match to reach our goal and open the park in December of 2024!
