For Over 90 Years We Have Cared for the Most Vulnerable Children, Youth, and Families in North Texas.

Who We are

At Cumberland Youth and Family Services,  we believe everyone deserves support so they can heal, grow and experience hope. We aim to equip and empower those we serve to thrive. Formerly known as Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home, our name is different, but our commitment to child welfare, family preservation and trauma-informed care is as strong as ever!  Our dedication to children, youth and families has been unwavering since we opened our doors in 1904. Today we provide safe housing, case management, counseling and supportive services to youth in foster care, young adults aging out of care, and resilient single-parent families looking to become more self-sufficient.

What We Do

It takes more than our expert staff to support children and families in need. It takes an entire community. Through community education, a vibrant volunteer program, corporate engagement and individual support, CYFS strives to help residents understand that they are not alone. When you give, you help us stand up for and side-by-side with youth and families when they need us most.

Your support ensures our interdisciplinary team can customize our research-based treatment strategies and get creative to ensure residents get exactly what they need to move forward. Our collaborative approach is at the heart of our mission every day. We need resources we can put toward our greatest needs as they arise and evolve.

With your help, we aim to break the cycles of abuse, neglect, trauma and poverty for those we serve.

What Your Donations Did Last Year

In 2022 your support and generosity helped us reach our $25,000 goal. Thanks to you we were able to provide 19,529 days of care for 115 residents. A day of care includes safe housing, case management, counseling, and support services.

Mission

Cumberland is committed to keeping kids safe and families together by providing programs along the continuum of care in child welfare and family preservation.

Needs

Individual Donations & Corporate Sponsorships: Every financial contribution sustains our ability to offer hope and healing to youth in foster care, young adults aging out of care, and single-parent families looking to become more self-sufficient. An investment in our residents is an investment in brighter futures and a stronger community. We welcome donations, corporate sponsorships, bequests from individual estates, and in kind donations.

Volunteers: Volunteers are an integral part of promoting healing and hope for the youth and families we serve. By joining our team of volunteers, you are making a difference in the lives of those that reside on our campus. Groups are welcome, too! Gather your friends, families, coworkers, church groups or school organizations to team build while making a difference in the lives of our residents.
