Congregation Shearith Israel began in 1884 in the southern sector of Dallas. In the early 1950s. we purchased 14 acres in the heart of North Dallas and built what is the original section of its current permanent campus. This is also where the Weitzman Family Religious School is located and the location of regular prayer services, Torah studies, community events, youth and family programs, and SISterhood gatherings among many other activities.

We serve more than 1,020 family members representing thousands of Jewish men, women, and children from dozens of zip codes and communities across Dallas and County Collins.  Over the last few years, our religious school has seen tremendous growth. As it nears 200 students, the need for financial assistance has grown as well.

This year, we our focusing our North Texas Giving Day campaign on raising funds to assistant Weitzman Family Religious School students needing scholarship assistance.

The Weitzman Family Religious School exists to:

- Instill students with a love of Judaism and learning, and a powerful connection to Israel.

 - Seamlessly weave Jewish learning throughout our educational programs, helping students develop the skills and knowledge necessary to observe holiday rituals, participate fully in services, and read Hebrew.

-Understand Judaism is not just meant to be studied; it is meant to be lived.

- Offer a stimulating and nourishing environment where learning is for everyone —and additional resources are available for students of all needs.

- Instill students with a love of Judaism and learning, and a powerful connection to Israel

Needs

The Weitzman Family Religious School engages Jewish students in creative, impactful and critical ways. The school is committed to enhancing our educational outcomes through meaningful programs, valuable curricula, quality teachers, updated technology, and overall, excellence in religious school education.

We find ourselves this year at a critical intersection with our educational needs. We are at a point where we can’t function without a curriculum to support the teaching materials needed and the technology to support that curriculum. Therefore, we are seeking to raise the funds for this upcoming academic year to allow us to make big, necessary moves to allow the school to continue to excel in using technology to carry out our educational vision.

Simply put, the classrooms no longer function adequately because of the outdated technology that cannot support our dynamic learning environment.

Rather than investing more maintenance money and resources in outdated Smart Boards, our vision is to move to Vibe Boards at around $4,000.00 each. By raising $30,000 we will be positioned to make significant strides in elevating the technological infrastructure of our educational community.

These are what you might think of as an oversized and interactive computer screen. As such they will equip our school to be efficient, combining all the necessary technology in a classroom

Your support will help us not only help us achieve these goals but also significantly enhance our capacity to provide more comprehensive services, increase our ability to change curriculum and ultimately save cost and energy for our Weitzman Religious School leadership, staff, teachers and maintenance workers. We believe that with your contribution, we can make a meaningful difference and create lasting change.
