At City Year Dallas (CYD), we partner with Dallas ISD and Uplift Education in some of their highest-need schools to help ensure all children, regardless of race/economic background, receive an excellent education and achieve their full potential. The students in these schools are 85% eco-disadvantaged, 55% Hispanic, and 41% Black.
To fulfill the needs of Dallas ISD students, City Year Dallas:
* Recruits‚ trains, and deploys Corps Members ages 18-25 from diverse backgrounds to serve full-time in a Dallas ISD or Uplift Education school.
* Corps Members provide literacy, math, attendance, and pro-social learning interventions including one-on-one support for students most at risk of dropping out.
* Corps Members mirror the student body they serve, with 82% of corps members identifying as people of color.
We hope you will make a gift today to support our work with students across Dallas ISD!
Our Needs
Help us reach our goal of raising $120,000 by September 22nd to support our work in Dallas ISD and Uplift Education schools. You can double your impact - Santander Consumer USA Foundation will match all gifts dollar-for-dollar up to $60,000.
Educational equity for students learning in South Dallas and West Dallas communities was challenging even before Covid-19. With the onslaught of the pandemic, the challenges and needs facing children, families, and schools in these communities have only grown larger.
As students return to school this fall, our Corps Members will be in the classroom providing necessary and critical supports to accelerate learning as students regain valuable instruction time. Our Corps Members are ready to serve and impact students in Dallas, and we look forward to training and coaching them along the way.
City Year Dallas is committed to helping teachers and students in these communities thrive despite the obstacles - and today we need your help, too!
