CHEW Animal Hospital (Compassion, Hope, Education, and Wellness)

Our nonprofit organization stands out from the rest by specializing in the compassionate care of sick, injured, and senior pets. At CHEW, we are committed to delivering unparalleled veterinary services, diagnostics, and advanced surgical procedures to pets in need. Our mission is to provide a full range of comprehensive options for those beloved companions who require more than just routine preventive care. We strive to be a haven for under resourced families, offering a sanctuary where they can find top-notch diagnostics, treatment, hospitalization, and advanced surgical procedures including orthopedic. We are so excited to announce the addition of a highly regarded orthopedic/soft tissue surgeon to our team.

Organization History
CHEW was established in January 2021 to bring affordable access to care for pet owners who face financial challenges when providing care to their sick and/or injured pets. We recognized a void in the existing nonprofit veterinary models, which did not support lower-income pet owners in need of medical care beyond spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations.

At CHEW, we deeply believe every animal, from every background, with any medical need should have an equal chance at a happy and healthy life. CHEW was founded on this principle, and we continue to promote fair and excellent pet care through the CHEW Compassion Fund.

Statistics
➡Our 2022 operating budget was $865,000 and our anticipated annual operating budget for 2023 is $1,000,000
➡Since our inception, we have exceeded 12,000 appointments/surgeries
➡Since our inception, we have cared for over 6,200 pets and helped over 2,900 clients

Target Audience
Our services benefit under-resourced pet owners who face financial challenges and fall outside of the services offered by traditional clinics and nonprofit spay/neuter clinics. We determine eligibility for financial assistance based on income, dependents, and the number of pets in their home.

⭐Programs⭐
Compassion Fund

The Compassion Fund is a powerful lifeline for our companion animals in their most vulnerable moments. With every dollar donated, we can make a profound impact on the lives of pets facing dire circumstances. This fund is a beacon of hope for those who are desperately in need of life-saving surgeries or vital diagnostics. Imagine a pet, suffering from a chronic illness or enduring a critical injury, unable to receive the immediate care they so desperately need merely because of the lack of finances. That's where the Compassion Fund steps in, offering additional support in their darkest hour.

HOPE (Helping Owners with Pet Essentials)
The HOPE program, which stands for "Helping Owners with Pet Essentials," is a new program for CHEW Animal Hospital. Its primary objective is to aid pet owners who may be experiencing financial difficulties. The program features a dedicated room filled with essential items like food, medication, litter, leashes, collars, beds, and more. These items are provided free of charge to eligible families who meet the program's criteria. The goal of offering these necessities at no cost is to relieve the financial burden associated with pet care and ensure that pets receive the necessary care they require.
