Chef to the Shelters (CttC) was founded with the purpose to feed meals that speak of dignity & respect to men and women in early sobriety.
The meals were the concept of Chef Mike McCoy, Founder & President, who in his first year of sobriety, found himself living in his car and eating saltine crackers for some of his meals.
Chef Mike's sobriety date is 4/8/18. Previous to his sobriety, he was on the opening team for four stadiums/arenas in the country, with Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie and the American Airlines Center as the two local venues. He had served as VP of Sales in the NHL, MLB, Class 1 Thoroughbred Horse Racing and professional soccer. He also spent nine years in commercial title in Arizona before his disease reached a point where he lost everything.
Today, he and his team are able to feed 30 sober transition shelters and sober living homes, once a month from his home. The men and women in early sobriety number 1,035 that Chef to the Shelters feed once a month with no cost to the facilities. When the upscale meals are delivered, those facilities are able to put those monies from their budget for food, back into services where it is truly needed.
Chef Mike is able to learn his craft from other chefs he works with in Berckmans Place at Augusta National Golf Club each year while cooking for the members of Augusta. Several of the chefs there fly in for fundraising events here to help the CttS organization continue on its mission.
