Cornerstone Community Action Agency (CCAA), a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 1964 as part of Lyndon B. Johnson’s “War on Poverty,” empowers low-income individuals and families to achieve self-sufficiency and break free from poverty. With a small but highly efficient staff, CCAA heavily relies on volunteers, particularly from the communities they serve, to administer a variety of critical programs. Supported by federal, state, and local grants, including the HOMES Program, Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP), and the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC). The primary funding for CCAA originates from the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), allocated by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA), providing a solid foundation for all our projects.

We serve 4,800+ individuals annually through a wide array of services. The current programs and services offered include:

Energy Assistance Veterans Assistance Rental Assistance
Head Start Early Head Start Job Readiness
Case Management Hunters for the Hungry Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Poverty Simulation Families in Transition CNA Classes
Financial Literacy Payee Services Retired and Senior Volunteer Program
Cornerstone Community Development

CCAA is expanding its footprint in the city of Weatherford. We are increasing the number of Head Start and Early Head Start classrooms to help accommodate the needs of Parker County, and we are expanding our coverage area to bring the other services we provide to more communities. Mission

A Community in Action, Empowering People, Changing Lives, and Offering Hope to Achieve Self-Sufficiency.

Needs

Cornerstone Community Action Agency (CCAA) is thrilled to announce the expansion of our services in Parker County! In partnership with Weatherford ISD, CCAA acquired the historic Travis Elementary School Campus on Water Street in 2022. This site will become the vibrant new hub for our Head Start and Early Head Start programs, alongside our Administration Building, enabling us to enhance our comprehensive services including Veterans Assistance, Utility Assistance, Payee/Fiduciary Services, and Tenant-Based Rental Assistance.

Excitingly, this campus will also house The Cornerstone Training Center, envisioned as a dynamic space open to the public for informational meetings, workshops, seminars, and other community activities. It will serve as a professional development site for CCAA staff, ensuring we deliver the highest quality of services.

We invite the community to support our mission—donations will directly fund the renovations needed to create an interactive learning environment and essential office space for our dedicated support staff, enriching Parker County with enhanced resources and opportunities.

Equity Statement

To build thriving and self-sufficient communities by creating equal opportunities for all individuals and families.
