$2,500 Goal

BRAVE/R Together was founded in 2021 in response to a University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) 2019 report that showed the life expectancy of 76104-zip code residents, the south side of Fort Worth, was the lowest in the state of Texas. 76104 residents live an average of 12 years less than any other area of the state. The UTSW study reported systemic racism through disparities in education, housing, employment, and healthcare persists.

Our mission is to engage and collaborate with stakeholders to strategically align resources to achieve health equity in neighborhoods in 76104, to the east of I-35W, by eradicating racial disparities in education, healthcare, housing, and economic empowerment.

  • BRAVE/R is a community-led organization anchored by actively engaging the 76104 community in meaningful conversations, workshops, and roundtables to address the persistent issues of inequity. Our organization's efforts are informed by the community concerns initiated by the 2019 UT Southwestern Medical Center study that revealed the people of 76104-zip code have a life expectancy of just 66.7 years, compared to the state average of 78.2 years and the national average of 78.7 years.
  • At BRAVE/R Together, we are guided by a set of core principles that drive our community transformation efforts. These principles are instrumental in addressing the root causes of disparities and creating lasting change. We believe by increasing awareness, providing resources for families, investing capital in the community, and driving innovation that we can make a significant impact and transform the 76104 community.
  • BRAVE/R Together developed foundational programs to execute our core principles for community transformation. The Community Ambassador Program, Community Grants Program, and the Annual Phoenix Festival are the foundational programs developed by BRAVE/R Together to support our core principles for community transformation.
