For 25 years (since 1997), Body & Soul Homeless Program has served food, supplies and fellowship to people in downtown Dallas, Texas, who are experiencing homelessness. We fill a gap on weekends when hot meals and daily personal care needs are scarce.
- Breakfast on Saturday
- Dinner on Sunday
- Over 78,000 meals
- Over 85,000 cups of coffee
- Countless toiletries and items of clothing
We’ve been here every weekend since 1997. Our guests know us and we know them. Upon their arrival they are greeted with a smile and a hot cup of coffee! We visit with our guest and give them an opportunity to send cards to family and friends as well as submit prayer request. We feed the soul with a guest speaker and feed the body with a hearty hot breakfast.
They also browse our free essentials corner, which supplies toiletries, socks, t-shirts, mini book library, games, other treats and necessities.
The program is ecumenical, although it is housed at St. Paul United Methodist Dallas (the oldest continuously operating African American church in Dallas, Texas).
In June 2022, Body & Soul Homeless Program, co-founder Leah Parker was presented the prestigious 9th Annual Bishop William B. Oden Ecumenical Award, which honors interreligious cooperation and dialogue, and reflects faithful work in social justice and ministries that work with other denominations to serve "the least of these."
