There are thousands of girls on waiting lists for mentors. Girls at risk, without mentors, are at an increased risk for experimenting with drugs, becoming pregnant, and/or dropping out of school. Communities with strong mentors are demonstratively less likely to have young girls trafficked into the global sex market. Our mentors spend time with these girls, affirming their worth and empowering each of them. These motherless girls will know that they have value and significance and that they can achieve their dreams.
In developing relationships with motherless daughters, mentors can make immediate and long-term differences in these girls' lives by encouraging and empowering them to become all that God has created them to be.
We begin mentoring girls at age 14 and will continue through college. In our second year as a 501(c)(3), we are currently mentoring 6 college sophomores, and 12 college freshman. We have given 18 partial scholarships and are serving the greater Dallas and Detroit areas.
Our Needs
Our current biggest need is financial. We are in the process of growing and while we have no paid employees, we are in need of a paid Executive Director to take us to the next level. Increased financial assistance will help with our marketing, scholarships, and long-term goals of a house or apartments that can place girls in need close to a community college with a program that involves life skills, goal setting, and mentoring.
We are also looking for women to step up as role models for young girls; women who will spend time with girls, affirming their worth, empowering them, and helping these girls to achieve their dreams.
