For more than 30 years, Beckles Dancing Company (BDC) has been an active and vital presence in the Dallas arts community—creating meaningful performances, developing artists, and making dance accessible to audiences and participants throughout Dallas and beyond.

Based at the South Dallas Cultural Center, BDC is both a professional performing company and a community arts resource. Our work celebrates the technical and creative power of dance while bringing together artists with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Our intergenerational company is one of our greatest strengths, demonstrating that artistry, growth, and the power of movement have no age limit.

As we enter Season 32: New Horizons, BDC continues a tradition of presenting innovative dance while creating new opportunities for artists and our community. Season programming includes the 26th Annual South Dallas Dance Festival: New Horizons, Shades of Black in celebration of Black History Month, community performances and collaborations, and new works by local and guest choreographers.

Our impact extends well beyond the stage. Through free community dance classes, educational workshops, artist development, and our new BDC Training Program, we are working to remove barriers to dance participation while creating opportunities for people of different ages and experience levels to move, learn, create, and grow.

Each rehearsal, class, workshop, and performance represents an investment in people. We provide opportunities for dancers, choreographers, teaching artists, and other creative professionals while bringing high-quality dance experiences to communities that have historically had fewer opportunities to access them.

Season 32 represents New Horizons for BDC—and we invite our community to be part of what comes next.

Your North Texas Giving Day gift helps us train artists, educate our community, create new work, present inspiring performances, and keep dance accessible.

Together, we can keep BDC moving—from the studio to the stage and beyond.

Your gift doesn't simply support a performance. It supports the people and the work that make the performance possible.

Equity Statement

Beckles Dancing Company (BDC — Dancing is Our Middle Name!) envisions a community where the fundamental human impulse to move is honored, nurtured, and shared.

BDC is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where individuals of all races, genders, sexual orientations, socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, ages, abilities, and beliefs are valued, respected, and encouraged to participate.

For more than 30 years, our work has been rooted in the belief that dance and the arts should be accessible to everyone. Through performances, free community dance classes, educational programming, artist development, and opportunities for dancers and choreographers, we work to reduce barriers to participation and expand access to meaningful arts experiences.

As a company based in South Dallas, we are especially committed to serving and engaging communities that have historically experienced limited access to arts education, professional dance training, and live performance opportunities. We strive to create spaces where artists and community members can learn, create, perform, and grow while bringing their individual experiences and perspectives to the work.

BDC believes equity is not simply about opening the door—it is about creating an environment where people have the opportunity, resources, encouragement, and support to enter, participate, and thrive.

Together, we seek to build a dance community where people feel welcomed, represented, supported, and empowered through movement.
