Equity Statement

At Be Their Voice Rescue, equity means more than giving every dog a chance. It means recognizing that behind many animals in crisis is also a person, family, or community facing challenges of their own.

Since 2018, our mission has been rooted in compassion without judgment. We believe every dog—regardless of breed, age, medical condition, behavior, or history—deserves safety, dignity, love, and the opportunity for a future.

But rescue does not begin and end at the shelter door.

In underserved and low-income communities, families may deeply love their animals while struggling to afford veterinary care, vaccinations, spay and neuter services, food, transportation, training, or even basic supplies. Financial hardship should not automatically mean losing a beloved pet. Whenever possible, we work to keep animals with the people who love them rather than allowing poverty to separate a family.

We bring resources directly into communities where they are needed most. Through outreach, education, pet food and supplies, vaccinations, access to low-cost veterinary care, spay and neuter assistance, training support, and connections to additional resources, we work to remove barriers to responsible pet ownership.

We also advocate fiercely for the dogs who are too often overlooked—particularly Pit Bulls, power breeds, senior dogs, medical cases, behavioral cases, strays, and animals whose circumstances have made them harder to place. We do not believe a difficult past should determine an animal’s future.

Our commitment to equity also extends to people. Our adoption, foster, volunteer, and community programs welcome individuals and families from every background. We believe compassion is measured by someone’s willingness and ability to provide a safe and loving home—not by their ZIP code, income, appearance, race, gender, age, or social status.

Animal welfare and human welfare are connected. When we help a struggling family feed their dog, provide a vaccine they cannot afford, help sterilize pets to prevent another unwanted litter, or educate a community about responsible ownership, we are doing more than helping one animal. We are addressing the circumstances that contribute to shelter overcrowding, abandonment, suffering, and the cycle of unwanted animals.

Sometimes being an animal’s voice means rescuing them.

Sometimes it means helping the person who loves them so they never need rescuing in the first place.

We believe lasting change happens when compassion reaches both ends of the leash.

At Be Their Voice Rescue, we are committed to building a compassionate and inclusive community where every dog — regardless of breed, age, medical history, or background — is given a fair chance at love, safety, and a future.

We believe equity means recognizing the unique challenges faced by the most vulnerable, and actively working to remove barriers that prevent them from thriving — whether they walk on four legs or two.

Our rescue prioritizes:

• Advocacy for stigmatized breeds, especially Pit Bulls and power breeds, who are often overlooked, misunderstood, or unfairly judged.

• Support for underserved communities by offering education, access to resources, and a judgment-free path to responsible pet ownership.

• Inclusive adoption practices that embrace all individuals and families, regardless of race, gender, age, income, or background, as long as they are ready to provide a safe, loving home.

• A diverse volunteer and foster network, where everyone is valued, respected, and empowered to speak up, take action, and be the voice for the voiceless.

We are stronger when we stand together — against injustice, against discrimination, and against the cycle of neglect.

Equity is not just our value — it’s our responsibility.
