Community Partnerships to reduce hunger. The Center partners with Brawner Elementary School in Granbury, Texas, to provide weekend snacks for children. We assemble and deliver on a weekly basis food items to feed 135 students. The snack packs provide important nutritional support over the weekend when children are away from school where they may receive weekday food assistance through school programs. Donations to this "snack pack" project directly impact hungry children. We are grateful to partner with the elementary school.
The Center's Mary's Table® ministry impacts lives in a direct and profound way. At each Mary's Table®, each woman participates in a session that teaches healthy cooking and nutrition. She receives a week's supply of groceries-70 items of food, in the categories of canned, boxed, and other packaged goods, frozen meat and vegetables, dairy items, fresh produce, and bread. Each participant receives 98 pounds of groceries, which are packed into two large boxes and loaded into her vehicle. Each Mary's Table®, we purchase, sort, pack, and load 1,077 pounds of food items. Since we began this ministry in 2012, we have distributed more than 12 tons of food. Each woman participant also receives an apron and a recipe book filled with healthy menu items for breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks.
Mary's Table® for Children, a community service project, provides underserved children with instruction in good nutrition and healthy dental hygiene. The children learn hands-on how to make healthy meals and snacks. They also learn and practice good dental hygiene with the help of a dental hygienist. We focus on each child's total health--body, mind, and soul. Our overall goal is to enhance the dignity of each child.
Our CenterPlace education platform has been successful in training underserved men and women for their various fields of Christian service, which includes advanced academic theological degree preparation, ministry equipping, and continuing education for people to serve as church and community change agents here in the United States and overseas. Additionally, we also provide scholarship assistance for graduate and postgraduate ministry students here in the United States.
The Center partners with other helping agencies to provide ministry to children and senior adults in moments of critical health care need. This "Noah's Ark ministry" provides much-needed medical prescription assistance for children's whose families face acute financial need during a health crisis. This ministry also offers short-term financial assistance with specific medical costs for those who are elder citizens.
The Center is also involved in Global Partnerships. The Center has aided the equipping of hundreds of graduate and post-graduate students since 2015. We presently are partnering with the Baptist College of Theology in Lagos, Nigeria, to provide theological training for pastors, medical clinics, and ministry to women and children. We provide financial assistance with accreditation and offer tuition scholarships to needy students. This frontline educational partnership directly impacts the need for sound theological training and helps to strengthen ministry in local churches.
The Baptist Center for Global Concerns works to lessen human suffering and enhance human dignity by identifying and confronting the underlying moral issues that rob individuals of peace . The Center targets immediate human needs through Mary's Table®, a community initiative that teaches healthy cooking and gives a supply of groceries for food insecure households. Mary's Table® for Children, a children's program, teaches healthy eating and good dental hygiene. "CenterPlace," an online learning platform, is used to train underserved laity and ministers for their various fields of service. We also participate in strategic educational and agricultural partnerships around the world to address large-scale human needs.
The Baptist Center for Global Concerns seeks financial support for its overall operational and training needs. Funds given toward our ministry will enable us to further expand the "Peace Initiatives" outlined above. Your support will enable us to provide service for the needs of hungry women and their children, much-needed theological educational training for the underserved, and financial assistance for needy families in times of acute health crises.
