Ballet North Texas the premier professional ballet company and conservatory of Dallas, created to bring high-quality ballet to our community both onstage and in the classroom. We believe that world-class art and meaningful access belong together.

Our mission is to enrich North Texas through exceptional performances, transformative dance training, and inclusive community outreach.

Founded in 2017 by Artistic Director Nicolina Lawson, Ballet North Texas has grown from a small group of dancers into a company and school that serve hundreds of students and thousands of audience members each season. Our dancers perform beloved classics and new works, while our Conservatory trains children, pre-professional students, and adults in a supportive, disciplined environment.

Access is at the heart of what we do. We offer scholarships so that financial need is never the only reason a dancer has to say no. Our Sensory Friendly Performances are designed for neurodiverse audiences and patrons with disabilities, with adjusted sound and lighting and a relaxed, judgment-free atmosphere. Through My First Classic at the Library, school lecture demonstrations, and community partnerships, we bring ballet to families and students who might never otherwise see a live performance.

When you support Ballet North Texas, you are investing in more than a single production. You are helping young dancers find their voice, families experience the arts together, and our city grow richer, more creative, and more connected. We invite you to join us—whether in the studio, in the audience, or as a supporter—in keeping this legacy in motion for North Texas.

Giving Activity

Mission

Ballet North Texas is dedicated to enriching the North Texas community through exceptional performances, transformative dance training, and inclusive community education and outreach.

Needs

Ballet North Texas is working to raise an additional $20,000 to close out our year and sustain both our performances and community programs.

Your support helps us:

- Provide scholarships so students and aspiring dancers can train regardless of financial need.

- Underwrite Sensory Friendly Performances for children like Jack and their families.

- Expand My First Classic at the Library and public school demonstrations, bringing ballet directly into the community.

- Build new Swan Lake costumes, supporting dancers onstage while creating a long-term production asset for the company.

Gifts may be directed to our General Fund or designated specifically to the Swan Lake Costume Campaign—both are critical to keeping Ballet North Texas vibrant, accessible, and in motion.

Equity Statement

Ballet North Texas Commitment to Cultural Equity:

At Ballet North Texas, we are committed to fostering a community where artistic excellence and cultural expression are accessible to all, irrespective of race, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender, social status, zip code, or citizenship status. We believe that the power of dance and the arts should reflect the rich diversity of our city and serve as a platform for inclusivity and creative exploration. As a company deeply rooted in the Dallas community, we share in the City of Dallas' vision to ensure that success and well-being are not pre-determined by any social or personal characteristic.

We recognize the historical legacies of inequity and exclusion in the arts, and are dedicated to challenging those legacies by embracing diversity in both our artists and our audiences. Our commitment extends to the broadest range of artistic expression, ensuring that we support not only established voices, but also emerging artists who bring fresh perspectives and innovation to the art form. Through inclusive programming, outreach, and collaboration, we strive to create an environment where every individual feels seen, heard, and valued.

Ballet North Texas is committed to equity, both in our practices and policies. We will direct our resources to support diverse artists and communities, taking into account the impact of our work on all Dallas neighborhoods, particularly those historically underserved. We will foster an arts ecosystem that evolves alongside the changing needs and aspirations of our city, continuously adapting to reflect the cultural richness that defines Dallas.

As an organization, we pledge to be an active participant in the broader movement toward diversity, equity, and inclusion in the arts, working in partnership with other local organizations, institutions, and artists. We will continue to engage in transparent and accountable practices, annually assessing our progress and striving for measurable improvements in the accessibility and diversity of our offerings.

Through these efforts, Ballet North Texas will be a force for positive change, helping to build a vibrant, inclusive, and dynamic cultural landscape in Dallas. We celebrate the diversity of our community and are dedicated to ensuring that every person has the opportunity to experience the beauty and transformative power of dance.
