Who is BUiLT?
BUiLT is a dynamic and mission-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for the inclusion, advancement, and empowerment of technologists across North Texas. Founded with a vision to address the systemic underrepresentation of Black professionals in the technology sector, BUiLT (Blacks United in Leading Technology) has become a powerful force for change, equity, and innovation within the tech industry.
At the heart of
BUiLT’s mission is a commitment to increasing the representation and active
participation of Black individuals in all areas of technology—from software
engineering and data science to cybersecurity, product management, and
executive leadership. The organization recognizes that diversity in tech is not
just a moral imperative but a strategic advantage that drives creativity,
problem-solving, and business success. By fostering an inclusive environment
where Black technologists can thrive, BUiLT aims to reshape the landscape of
the tech industry and ensure that it reflects the rich diversity of the
communities it serves.
A Community: We pride ourselves with our little “i" and our large “U”. At BUiLT, our work is not about individual recognition—it’s about collective impact. We believe in the power of unity and collaboration, echoing the sentiment that there is no “I” in team. We proudly stand alongside other organizations and allies committed to addressing the complex and uniquely American challenge of race relations, particularly as it manifests within the technology sector. Together, we strive to create lasting change.North Texas Presence: BUiLT drives meaningful change by empowering local teams to design and implement programs tailored to the unique needs of their communities. We believe that local leadership is best positioned to understand and serve their regions effectively. To support this approach, BUiLT operates through member-led chapters, organized by city, that govern trainings and oversee program delivery. These members play a central role in shaping and evaluating our offerings, ensuring that our initiatives remain relevant, impactful, and community-driven.
