Our History

At ASD - A Home for Life, we're on a mission to change lives and uplift our community. For over 39 years, we've been providing permanent affordable housing and life-saving services to underserved individuals and families affected by HIV and other chronic health conditions.

Through stable housing, healthcare support, nutritional services, and mental health support, we create a nurturing environment where our residents can focus on their well-being and reclaim their lives with dignity.  Each resident participates in vocational support services, education, and volunteer service opportunities. With your donation, you directly support our efforts to break down barriers, build a more inclusive community, and improve the lives of those low-income folks facing homelessness who have been impacted by HIV.

Join us in making a real impact and creating a brighter, healthier future for those in North Texas. Your contribution matters. Donate now and be a part of the change.

The Ever-Growing Need:

In the face of a growing affordable housing crisis, barriers to life-saving services, and the ongoing fight against HIV, the need for our work has never been greater. Too many individuals and families still lack access to safe, affordable housing, while stigma surrounding chronic health conditions continues to create profound and lasting challenges.

These realities disproportionately impact vulnerable communities—including individuals and families with children living with HIV, and LGBTQ+ individuals. As we navigate these challenging times, we remain committed to ensuring that no one is left behind and that every person has the opportunity to live with stability, dignity, and access to the care they deserve.

Life-Saving Programming:

Through our comprehensive service-enriched housing model, we provide more than just shelter. Our programs include vital services such as:

  • Medical Care and Case Management: Ensuring access to crucial healthcare services, treatment, and support.
  • Emergency Housing Assistance: Providing assistance with late fees, moving costs, and rent for those with no income.
  • Educational and Vocational Support: Empowering residents with opportunities for career development and community engagement leading to a life of self-sufficiency.
  • Transportation Services: Ensuring access to LGBTQ+ care and community events through non-emergency medical transportation.
  • Nutritional Support Services : Up to three fresh meals prepared each day.
  • Data-Driven Solutions: Utilizing data analysis to enhance program effectiveness and track our impact in real-time.
