A Story of Healing and Hope: Beth’s Journey
Beth walked into Agape Clinic one rainy afternoon with her 7-year-old son, clutching her side in pain. She had been enduring severe stomach aches for weeks. Without insurance and unable to afford the emergency room, she delayed seeking help until the pain became unbearable.
At the front desk, Beth whispered through tears, “I don’t have any money, but I need help.”
At most places, those words would have meant she was turned away. But not at Agape.
That same day, Beth was seen by a physician in Agape’s women’s health program. While her lab work could not be completed immediately, it was scheduled for the following morning — at no cost. In the meantime, she received a careful exam, immediate treatment to ease her pain, and reassurance that she would not face her health crisis alone.
When her lab results came back, the team confirmed what her doctor suspected: an untreated infection that could have become life-threatening. She received the right medication quickly and was guided through her recovery.
But Agape didn’t stop there. The care team educated Beth on nutrition and prevention, and most importantly, treated her with dignity. During her visit, her son was also scheduled for a pediatric check-up, saving her from the impossible choice between her health and his.
Today, Beth is healthy and thriving. When she’s able, she gives back, donating $20 here and there. She always says, “It’s not much, but I want someone else to have the chance I had.”
Beth’s story is not rare. Every day, Agape provides women like Beth — and their families — with compassionate, integrated healthcare they could not access anywhere else. For Beth, Agape was not just a clinic. It was a lifeline.
