On December 11, 2013, Riley Sprowl, ABLE Faith co-founder, had a sledding accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down at 16.  Riley’s family, friends, and community support after his tragic accident was vital to his success in adapting to the challenges of having a disability.  Almost eight years later, Riley’s robust support system, faith, and belief that God has a plan have been crucial to his continued success.

A couple of years later, in December 2015, Jose Martinez, also an ABLE Faith co-founder, began working at a neuro activity-based training center as an Activity-Based Therapist, where Riley had been training to improve his physical strength.  Jose became one of Riley’s trainers, assisting him in increasing his strength, independence, and quality of life.  After four years of working out together, they noticed that other clients who had a strong faith and support system were more likely to rejoin society regardless of the challenges with a disability.

During the summer of 2020, Riley and Jose felt called to start ABLE Faith, a registered 501c3, to be a beacon of hope to the community of people with disabilities and their caregivers.  Having no prior experience or knowledge of starting a nonprofit, they took a leap of faith and established ABLE Faith on June 17, 2020.
