Welcome! We’re pleased to have you visit our page to share with you the impact we’re proud to have on the lives of women and girls.
AAUW – the American Association of University Women – has been empowering women since 1881, doing trailblazing work to gain equality for women in all fields. Our local AAUW-NETC Branch was founded in 1969 and continues its rich 55-year tradition of advancing equity for women through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.
Our monthly meetings feature amazing speakers who tell their inspiring story of success, motivate women to realize their potential, teach about possibilities involving careers, education, out-of-the-ordinary directions taken, and various current issues.
Our branch is the proud recipient of the 5 Star AAA Award for its efforts in excelling is such categories as advancement, membership recruitment and retention, public policy, governance, diversity, and programming. We are among the first three branches to receive this prestigious award.
Our branch is renowned for not only its diligent work ethic (as highlighted below), but also for the camaraderie fostered at our many smaller interest groups; Book Discussion Groups, monthly birthday celebrations, Movies, Bridge, Confetti (potpourri of various evening activities), volunteer opportunities, and more.
Success Projects
Scholarships: To date, over 65 female graduates from local high schools, along with mature students at Tarrant County College, have been awarded scholarships to go to college. Many of these women are the first in their families to have a chance to attend college, and some would not have been able to attend without financial assistance.

Full STEAM Ahead: Girls in 4th to 6th grades have the opportunity to experience fun and interactive sessions about science and the arts.
Negotiation Skills: Launched AAUW's first Texas Work Smart salary negotiation skills workshop at the North Richland Hills Library.
Keys Alternative High School: Traditionally, a student graduating from KEYS High School is selected to receive the $1,000 Georgeann Gallian Memorial Scholarship.
Leadership training: We financially support female university student leaders to attend AAUW's National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL), held at the University of Maryland, College Park, to enhance their leadership skills and learn about pressing issues affecting women. During the pandemic, we still sponsored 10 local female university students to participate in NCCWSL, held virtually.
Adopt-A-School Program: As the first organization to adopt HEB ISD's KEYS High School, our members arrange an appreciation event for faculty and staff.
Endowment Fund: Since its inception in 1969, AAUW-NETC Branch members raised $70,000 to create two national AAUW Research and Project Endowments, named for local member Diane Jacoby and branch founder Georgia Kidwell. Investment income from these funds has continued to provide national scholarships awarded to women around the country completing graduate studies or career-related education programs.
How you can help us
We need our community to support to continue our work of promoting gender equality. Your donation will help provide scholarships to young women seeking higher education, a better life, more opportunities and the means to achieve financial security. Your support also enables more female university students to attend AAUW's annual National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL), as well as support AAUW's Greatest Needs Fund.
