A Sisters Legacy is a non-profit based in Dallas, Texas whose mission is to provide free and low-cost mental health services, specifically virtual or in-person therapy, to those in need. To make therapy affordable, we make and sell jewelry at community events, conferences, local stores, and pop-up markets. Our jewelry sales allow us to provide low-cost therapy at $50 per session, however we are also able to provide scholarship funding for those who are unable to afford our discounted rate. A Sisters Legacy is located in the predominantly Black and Hispanic working-class neighborhood of Oak Cliff (providing services locally and virtually statewide), an underserved community that faces fatal health disparities across racial lines. In 2023, 40% of our clients were BIPOC. At A Sisters Legacy, we keep this at the forefront of our programming and aim to make our practice as inclusive and safe for those who are historically and systematically barred from quality mental health services.

Giving Activity

Mission

A Sister's Legacy exists to make mental health care accessible by providing free and low-cost therapy services and affirming that every person is inherently worthy of healing, support, and compassionate care.

Needs

Mental health care is out of reach for far too many people. Even when individuals recognize they need support, the cost of therapy, lack of insurance coverage, high deductibles, and long waitlists often prevent them from receiving care. As a result, many people struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and other mental health challenges without access to the help they need.

At A Sister's Legacy, we work to bridge that gap by providing free and low-cost therapy services to individuals facing financial hardship. Our clients often come to us during some of the most difficult seasons of their lives, seeking support, healing, and hope.

Every $50 donated provides one hour of therapy for someone in need. Donations help fund full and partial therapy scholarships, allowing us to expand access to care and ensure that financial barriers do not stand in the way of mental health support. Together, we can create a community where more people receive the compassionate care they deserve.

Equity Statement

At A Sister's Legacy, we believe that mental health care should be accessible to everyone. We recognize that financial barriers, systemic inequities, stigma, disability, identity, and life circumstances can prevent individuals from receiving the support they deserve. We are committed to creating an inclusive, affirming environment where every person is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

Our work is rooted in the belief that every individual is inherently worthy of love, healing, and care. Through low-cost therapy, scholarships, education, and community programs, we strive to reduce barriers to mental health services and expand access for those who have historically been underserved or overlooked.
