A. Rose NFP is a 501(c)(3) public health nonprofit working to make health, knowledge, resources, and opportunities more accessible to communities too often left out of them.
Founded in 2018, A. Rose began with a commitment to increasing breast cancer awareness in African American communities. As we listened, learned, and worked alongside the communities we serve, our mission grew. We recognized that improving health also means addressing the conditions that influence it—from access to trusted health information and preventive services to financial knowledge, educational opportunities, career exposure, and connections to community resources.
Today, A. Rose brings together community members, healthcare providers, educators, businesses, volunteers, and local organizations to turn those connections into accessible programs, resources, and opportunities.

Our mission is to advance complete well-being by addressing community needs across the Social Determinants of Health. We mobilize culturally aligned programs, education, and partnerships that empower underserved communities to live healthier, more supported, and more informed lives.
A. Rose Nonprofit's greatest need is flexible funding that lets us respond to community needs in real time while building sustainable, high-quality public health programming across our four pillars:
Health & Wellness — screenings and culturally relevant education like our Chicago Breast Cancer Awareness event (45 reached, with mammogram access), Dallas Heart Health Workshop (21 served), and Dallas Senior Health Fair (nearly 100 adults 55+ connected to screenings and wellness resources)
Economic Empowerment — financial literacy webinars (40 participants reached) and volunteer-written public health blogs (20 published) that build long-term stability and health literacy
Pathways to Education & Career — 100 book bags delivered to patients at LaRabida Children's Hospital, a $1,000 scholarship awarded, and 5 Master of Public Health interns hosted for hands-on program experience
Community Advocacy & Safety — a Drug Take Back event that safely collected 12 full containers of unused medication, plus collaboration with 20+ partner organizations to expand our reach
Since 2018, this approach has helped us mobilize roughly 100 volunteers, support 25 families through our Ronald McDonald House partnership, and reach community members across Dallas and Chicago through free, in-person programming — with more neighborhoods asking us to bring these programs to them every year.
Unrestricted gifts are especially valuable — they let us direct resources to whatever a community needs most, whether that's a screening event, educational materials, volunteer training, or the basic operating costs that keep programs running year-round.
At A. Rose Nonprofit, we believe health equity means everyone has a fair opportunity to be as healthy as possible — regardless of race, income, zip code, or circumstance. We know that underrepresented and BIPOC communities in Dallas and Chicago continue to face disparities in health outcomes that are rooted not in individual choices, but in systemic barriers to access, education, and opportunity.
That's why our work is grounded in the Social Determinants of Health. We don't just treat symptoms of inequity — we address its root causes, meeting people where they are with programming that is culturally relevant, community-informed, and free. That looks like survivor-led breast cancer education and mammogram access for Chicago families, senior health fairs that connect older adults to resources built for them, and financial literacy education designed around the real economic realities our communities face.
Equity also means listening before we build. Every program we run exists because a community told us it was needed — and every partnership, from Parkland Health to Dallas College to Pan African Connection, exists to make sure our work reflects the people it serves, not assumptions about them.
We are committed to:

Removing cost as a barrier — our programs are free to the people who need them
Measuring our impact honestly and using what we learn to reach further
Health equity isn't a tagline for us. It's the reason A. Rose exists — and every screening, workshop, and scholarship is a step toward a future where quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege.
