A. Fern Norville Kaufman County Children's Emergency Shelter

A nonprofit organization

Our Needs

Seventy-five percent (75%) of our funding is from the State of Texas, the other twenty-five percent (25%) must be raised to serve the children. We had only eight children from November to February impacting our income.
In November 2020, a long term leak was discovered in one of the girl's bedrooms with ensuing mold. Insurance took care of the repairs to the bedroom, hallway floor and floor in the community room.
The house was built in 1985 and no improvements have been made until the repairs. Renovations are long overdue and with the new flooring in certain areas, it has shown how much needs to be done.
There are eight bedrooms, seven of which need to be redone as well as the kitchen, community room in the back of the house, the nursery and an additional bedroom. Some of the large appliances are dated .
Unfortunately, there is always as need for a facility such as ours and we want to be able to care for the children in a generous and loving way.

Mission

To provide a safe, healthy, nurturing environment to children who are separated from their families due to neglect, abuse, abandonment, or who are in the Texas foster care system. To provide programs and services to enhance education/ awareness programs to enhance community action.
