Children on the Mend Inc. (COTM) a non-profit (501 c 3) organization was launched in 2000 as an intervention/prevention advocacy and mentoring agency for youth and young adults. Our board is comprised of diverse backgrounds with thirty plus years of legal, criminal justice, educators, clinical therapist, social services and administrative backgrounds.
COTM is a community-based program. Through our services we demonstrate the importance of giving back through partnerships with Juvenile Justice, and Young Adult Parole and Probation programs, and while these are major contributors, we have fostered relationships over the years with many other community base agencies and reentry services. Our agency provides comprehensive, pre-and post-case management plans that directly address the individually identified needs, of each client (s). Today's youth and young adults are easily influenced by social media platforms, they often face volatile emotions, and are more likely to act out.
COTM's specialty lies in its commitment to nurturing youth and young adults, providing them with essential tools to combat negative behaviors through cognitive-behavioral training. Our extensive community outreach includes impactful initiatives such as in-school and after-school mentoring programs, the Christmas Angel Tree for underprivileged families, and annual Back-to-School Fairs. Additionally, we have facilitated field trips to local professional games and offered higher education scholarships, significantly impacting the lives of over 5,200 students since 2016. Our public health awareness efforts of 2021, exemplified by FREE community Health Fairs, have resulted in over 1,040 children's immunizations and numerous adult vaccinations, underscoring our dedication to fostering a healthier community.
