29 Acres was founded by a group of families who share a similar need: finding quality support services and safe housing for their young adult children living with autism and other neurodiversities in North Texas as they age out of the school system.

60,000 children with neurodiversities age out of the school system every year. We know that most will continue to require various levels of support to maintain those skills and to continue to learn and thrive. We also know that many caregivers are facing the realities of aging and that one day they will be ill-equipped to meet their child’s ongoing needs. We also know that individuals living with neurodiversity can lead a fulfilling adult life with purpose, joy and community.

As a result of this, these families began to explore ongoing support services and independent housing options for their loved ones in the Dallas area. They learned that both of these needs are great in our North Texas communities. Many families struggle to find the right fit for the unique needs of their adult loved one. 29 Acres sought to create a living community paired with a full suite of quality support services that would exceed expectations and provide a path for those with neurodiversity to live an independent and full adult life.

The contribution you make through the North Texas Giving Day 2025 campaign will give us the resources to hire and maintain a staff of highly qualified professionals; provide compensation for lower-level employees to offset inflation; and help cover ongoing – but equally important – operational expenses.
