No One Should Age Into Hunger. Together, We Can Change That.

When most people think of hunger, they imagine children. But did you know that within just six years, there will be more people over 60 than under 18? With the Baby Boomer generation aging rapidly, the face of hunger in North Texas is changing—and older adults are at the greatest risk.

Hunger doesn’t just mean an empty plate. For older adults, it means malnutrition, poor health, isolation, and the painful loss of independence. It means choosing between groceries and medicine, or skipping meals so grandchildren can eat.

Right here in Dallas–Fort Worth, the need is urgent:

  • 37% of older adults in Dallas County live at or below the poverty line.

  • Black and Hispanic older adults are 3–4 times more likely to face food insecurity than their white peers.

  • The vast majority of older adults seeking food assistance are women and people of color.

The cost of malnutrition among older adults isn’t just personal—it’s systemic. It drives $51 billion in annual U.S. healthcare costs and impacts every taxpayer. But for the people behind the numbers, the cost is dignity, health, and hope.

That’s where Any Step Community Services comes in. For five years, we’ve walked alongside older adult households across Greater Dallas–Fort Worth with a simple mission: to ensure that aging does not mean going hungry.

Through our Healthy Steps Recipe Kits, culturally relevant food distributions, and health and wellness education, we provide more than meals. We provide:

  • Dignity: empowering older adults with choices that reflect their culture and preferences.

  • Community: creating spaces where no one has to age alone.

  • Wellness: teaching simple, sustainable ways to live healthier at every stage of life.

To date, we’ve distributed over 75,000 lbs. worth of healthy food to more than 13,000 older adults—but the need keeps growing.

This North Texas Giving Day, you can help close the gap. Your gift today means:

  • A grandmother doesn’t have to choose between medicine and dinner.

  • A veteran receives the nutrition and dignity he deserves.

  • An isolated senior discovers community, health, and hope.

Every dollar matters. Every step matters. Together, we can ensure that no one in North Texas ages into hunger.

  • $25 = 12 meals

  • $50 = 25 meals

  • $100 = 50 meals

  • $250 = 125 meals

Will you stand with us today?
