1886 Global Health Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to close health gaps for families and communities in Dallas, the African Continent, Grenada, and Barbados.
We organize our work around six pillars that shape whether a person can be healthy: Early Childhood Care and Education, Maternal and Infant Health, Food Security and Agriculture, Workforce Development and Economic Mobility, Racial Equity and Community Healing, and Mental Health and Emotional Wellness.
We believe health is not only what happens in a clinic. It is shaped by the food on the table, the care a mother receives, the start a child gets, the work that supports a family, and the dignity a community is given. By building programs across these areas and across borders, we help create lasting change that families can feel in daily life.
Founded by Dr. Nesha Abass, 1886 Global Health Foundation is headquartered in the Dallas area and is building partnerships and programs that connect resources in North Texas with communities here and abroad.
1886 Global Health Foundation exists to tear down the barriers that have kept communities from accessing the health, opportunity, and dignity they deserve. Through six strategic pillars: Early Childhood Care & Education, Maternal & Infant Health, Food Security & Agriculture, Workforce Development & Economic Mobility, Racial Equity & Community Healing, and Mental Health & Emotional Wellness, we attack the root causes of health disparities through bold advocacy, community-driven programs, and strategic partnerships. We do not just treat the symptoms of inequity. We eliminate them.
