Texas has over 5,000 species of native plants.
Because of its size and geography, it is one of the most biologically diverse states, with forests, deserts, mountains, hills, prairies and coastal plains.

The Native Plant Society of Texas wants to protect our state's native plant heritage and preserve it for future generations. We are a non-profit organization, run by volunteers, sponsoring educational programs, workshops, demonstration gardens and many other types of projects.

Why native plants?
Native plants are drought-tolerant, naturally conserving our precious water resources.
Native plants provide habitat and food for birds, butterflies, bees and other wildlife.
Native plants don't need special pampering or fertilizing.
Natives are natural to their eco-system.
Natives help us maintain biological diversity.

Our Needs

Your generous donations will be used to increase our outreach with native plant gardens, help fund our Native Landscape Certification Program, Bring Back the Monarchs to Texas grants program, NICE Native Plant Partners, symposiums, speaker stipends, scholarships, administrative expenses, and future programs. Next year we hope to attend more rural and under-served events to increase membership diversity and outreach as well as host additional meetings/presentations in southern Dallas county and other surrounding counties without a chapter.
