Momentum Dance Company is a community of dancers who are passionate about telling stories and sharing beauty through the art of dance. The company is comprised of dancers of all ages and dance styles/trainings. Our common ground is our love for the performing arts, our desire for personal and community excellence, and our commitment to inspiring the next generation of dancers. We are primarily a ballet company but we enjoy branching out into other dance styles like modern, contemporary, jazz, lyrical, and tap.
Our dancers have an incredible support system led by their families and the Momentum Dance Company Board of Directors. The Board of Directors oversees the administrative and financial affairs of the company, while our brilliant Artistic Team plans and directs performances.
Momentum Dance Company's mission is to provide local dancers with professional training and performance opportunities, while simultaneously serving the community through arts education and outreach initiatives. To realize our mission, Momentum Dance Company (MDC) produces programs in varied styles of dance--primarily classical ballet--to promote participation in, accessibility to, and enduring appreciation for the Fine Arts in Irving and the greater DFW Metroplex.
We are excited to be starting our 21st season! We will be holding auditions soon for our annual Nutcracker and hope to have over 50 dancers participate. We are coming off our last season with a successful run of "Wizard of Oz" with two sold out shows and over 70 dancers. To that end we hope to continue to our school programming and bring it to the community and local districts so funds donated from NTGD will go a long way to assist us in that effort. We would also like to grow our scholarship fund so that we can send our dancers to outside programming and would like to fund classes for an underprivileged child or two. And then, as always, we need pointe shoes for our dancers since they wear through them so quickly.
