The Metropolitan Winds was founded in 1993. Our usual repertoire is widely varied as we endeavor to
present balanced programs that have a two-fold objective: to entertain as well as enlighten and educate
our audiences. Concert selections have run the gamut from "serious" band literature to "big" orchestral
transcriptions as well as military band standards, light classical favorites and popular favorites from stage
and screen.
Metropolitan Winds endeavors to enhance the sense of community and foster music appreciation in the
area through regular performances of the world's great music, and to provide area musicians the
opportunity to collaborate with other capable musicians.
Metropolitan Winds performs many proprietary transcriptions and arrangements unavailable to other
wind ensembles. Metropolitan Winds is now entering its 33rd season in Dallas. Non-profit status was
granted by the IRS in 1995. The group is membership by audition only and has approximately 55
volunteer members.
General funding for our 2025/2026 concert season. Metropolitan Winds is seeking assistance to fund a minimum of five (5) concerts. These concerts will include playing in the Lewisville Grand Theatre, Little Elm High School and On the Lawn, Northpark Mall, and other local venues in the DFW area. Funding is needed to cover expenses for: performance hall rental, acquisition of program materials (music), guest artist fees and increased marketing endeavors.
MAKING MUSIC MATTER - The Metropolitan Winds seeks to promote the Arts through regular performances of great literature for wind bands. These performances help to enrich, educate, and entertain the public, while providing musicians from throughout the Dallas Metroplex the opportunity to perform in an ensemble that demands the highest level of ability and musicianship.
We believe in and stand for values of inclusion, equity and justice. We welcome all people and recognize the rights of individuals to live their lives with dignity, free of discrimination based on their faith, race or national origins.
