Hopewell Academy

A nonprofit organization

Youth and family homelessness is an issue that is growing throughout the country, and the Dallas area is no exception. According to the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance, there were over 6,000 homeless youth in Dallas and Collin County in 2016 alone - and these are just the kids we know about. In states that track both sets of statistics, impoverished youth that have stable housing are twice as likely to drop out as non-impoverished counterparts, while homeless youth are more than four times more likely to drop out of school than students who have stable housing. These statistics illustrate how important housing stability is to student success. As a residential school, we are seeking to provide that long-term stability for students from 6th grade through graduation. Not only does our long-term approach provide stability for the student, but our music-intensive curriculum will inherently instill relevant life skills such as work ethic, community building, individual accountability, and an appreciation for excellence. Through this program, we can provide our students with the skills they need to break the cycle of poverty while connecting their parents to agencies that can help them escape homelessness.

Our Needs

We hope to open our doors in the fall of 2021. As such, we are currently in need of funding for an operations budget that will provide us with a platform to achieve that goal by providing for personnel and additional fund raising and marketing campaigns.

Mission

Hopewell Academy is a forthcoming Christ-centered boarding school that will provide disadvantaged youth with unhindered opportunity through excellence in education, musical study, and character development.
