Historic Mesquite, Inc. (HMI) hosts tours of Opal Lawrence Historic Park and Florence Ranch Homestead for Mesquite ISD third graders each year. Both properties are Recorded State Historic Landmarks and the Lawrence home is also on the National Register of Historic Places. HMI's current needs include funding for continued restoration of 1870's-1890's buildings on 13+ acre historic complex as well as materials for fencing and roofing. The organization is always searching for volunteers to meet our mission.
Historic Mesquite, Inc. is organized for the charitable and educational purposes of identifying and preserving historic structures, identifying and securing historic designations for properties, and providing the public with the tools to navigate Mesquite history and culture.
