Habitat for Humanity of Greater Garland

In 2023 Habitat of Greater Garland celebrates 29 years of service to the communities of Garland, Rowlett, and Sachse Texas. Since inception we have helped almost 100 families become homeowners! Over these past 5 years we have built 10 new homes and served over 100 additional households with critical repairs. Our recent accomplishments include finishing three 1920s houses we physically moved to new locations and rebuilt for Veteran's residences. Navy Veterans now own these 3 completely rebuilt homes. We have also expanded our critical repair program increasing from 5 homes to over 100 homes in the past four years. A large portion of our critical repairs are done for Veterans of the United States Armed Forces through TVC, the Texas Veterans Commission. Our Critical Repair program helps people age in place with more safety and dignity. We impact people and families who earn primarily in the 30-80% range of Area Median Income, providing the joy of home ownership to those who otherwise may never have the opportunity to be homeowners.

Our Needs

Our current needs include: Financial Contributions of Operational Funds; Donations of land/acreage on which to build houses and pocket communities; Funding to build/repair homes for Veterans and our Partner Families. Donations of existing homes that can be renovated, restored, and sold to enhance our Habitat Homeownership Program. Passionate volunteers for our Board of Directors and Committee service.
