Ghost Town Arts Collective

A nonprofit organization

The Ghost Town Arts Collective engages the community using multiple avenues: exhibitions, participation in community events and festivals, and classes/workshops.
1. The organization will host at least two major exhibitions per year showcasing the artwork of its members. The Ghost Town Arts Collective will use Ideation Station as the primary location for gallery shows along with other local and regional venues in the city of Sherman, TX and more.
2. The organization will participate in local festivals such as Día De Los Muertos, Craft the Night Away, Art Walk and Stroll, etc. The activities during these events will vary.
3. The organization will provide free or discounted classes and workshops for people in the Texoma region taught by 1099 contractors. Fundraising efforts by the organization will provide for the materials, free or reduced-cost tuition, and the contractor's stipend for providing the class or workshop. After the conclusion of the classes and workshops, the organization will host exhibitions showcasing the work produced.

Our Needs

The Ghost Town Arts Collective is fundraising to offer free or reduced-cost tuition arts programs in the following: 35 mm Black and White Photography, 120 mm Black and White Photography, Super 8 filmmaking, Focus: Photography Forum, Saturdays at the Station - a weekly creative activity that focuses on different art media, writers workshops, and the creation of Apparitions, the Ghost Town's literary journal that publishes the work of regional writers, children's art program, and that's just the start!
We are also working on a capital fundraising campaign to remodel the gallery space from a former spa to offer taller walls, more open space, gallery storage, framing and art packaging supplies.

Mission

The Ghost Town Arts Collective is a non-profit, arts cooperative based in the Texoma region that has been supporting and nurturing the arts since 2007. We are dedicated to creating an open space for the arts community to experiment, share, and connect, and for the community at large to experience the creative process through participation, appreciation, and education. For this purpose, we have established a makerspace for hosting artistic workshops and classes as well as hosting gallery exhibitions showcasing visual and performance art, music, dance, spoken word, poetry, creative writing, bookmaking, and film created by members of our community.
