Lauren Saba, owner of Fort Works Art, began Gallery of Dreams as a new non-profit organization to serve the local community. Since its creation in 2017, Gallery of Dreams has been dedicated to progressing the growing art scene in North Texas. The support of our community ensures we can do things that benefit the city we love, such as having free admission to acclaimed exhibitions, hosting high school art competitions, scheduling monthly artist lectures, and providing an outlet to local artists to show their work.

‘Sublime: Crystal Wagner’

FORT WORKS ART is pleased to announce artist Crystal Wagner’s second solo exhibition with the gallery: Sublime. Wagner is a full-time interdisciplinary artist whose work builds worlds by incorporating textural materials and the natural movement of our bodies through temporary landscapes. Wagner will be creating a large-scale, site-specific installation for the gallery during her residency, sponsored by Gallery of Dreams. The exhibition opens on Saturday, July 9, 2022, with a reception from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and will be on display until Saturday, October 15, 2022.

Wagner describes her process as “intuitive and organic”. She walks into a building and simply responds to the architecture and environment that surrounds her. Her utilization of the unique characteristics of each individual area that she works within, guides her through the creation of these new whimsical worlds. These organic structures move through the space with an artificial vibrancy reminiscent of flowers and tropical settings; “a waterfall of color” as described by Pat Hazell in a recent podcast interview with Wagner.

'NO COMMISSION'
(2020) Now through May 22nd, you can see and purchase works by local Dallas/Fort Worth artists with NO COMMISSION going to the gallery, on works up to $1,600. Over a hundred artists of all levels were invited to participate and submit any two pieces they choose. This gives the opportunity to create an income for artists that are out of work or have had shows canceled.

"THE NEW NORMAL: An Artists Response to COVID-19"

(2020-21) Fine Line Group, the Family office of Sasha and Edward P. Bass, announced the launch of an artist initiative to support Fort Worth area artists. THE NEW NORMAL: An Artist's Response to COVID-19 challenges local visual artists to create works that reflect their experience living through the pandemic as members of the Fort Worth area community.

Led by a gift from the Fine Line Group, and additional support from the Alice L. Walton Foundation, the Donny Wiley Memorial Fund at the North Texas Community Foundation, and Kit and Charlie Moncrief, this innovative program is designed to support Fort Worth's economic and emotional recovery through both service and art. THE NEW NORMAL will culminate in the creation of an important and profound body of work that interprets and documents this uniquely Fort Worth experience, during these uncertain, surreal, and often worrisome times.

A panel of eight influential leaders from Fort Worth's most prestigious museums, including the Kimbell Art Museum, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, and the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame will manage the selection process for this competition. Panelists will review candidate applications and provide grants of either $2,000 or $5,000 to Fort Worth artists based on the strength of their proposal, portfolio, and demonstrated financial need.

THE NEW NORMAL is administered by Gallery of Dreams, a Fort Worth nonprofit arts organization established by Lauren Saba of Fort Works Art.

Our Needs

We envision a community where contemporary artists and an engaged public enhance their creative capacity through relevant, diverse, and accessible experiences and conversations. We strive to improve the quality of life and strengthen the viability of the North Texas artist community as a whole.

COVID-19 has been detrimental to the community of local artists and galleries who rely on public openings and projects for income, or have jobs in industries heavily effected by closures and unemployment. It is imperative that we gain support to be able to provide programming to heal and uplift our vibrant community in Fort Worth.

We are asking for your support to continue to help our incredible mission to bring these programs to our community.

Mission

Gallery of Dreams exists to champion contemporary artists and spark creative experiences for positive community impact. We envision a community where contemporary artists and an engaged public enhance their creative capacity through relevant, diverse, and accessible experiences and conversations. It exists as a space to bring together a diverse range of people to address cultural, political and other relevant experiences that affect our daily and future individual existence.
