We are excited to have just completed another amazing year as a newly rebranded & expanded nonprofit! We continue to grow and focus on the needs of those with disabilities in our community. Â We believe in empowering those with disabilities to advocate with us to promote inclusion and educate our community to create meaningful where all abilities are valued.
We are a PLATINUM-level GuideStar participant for our commitment to full transparency!
Our Needs
The past couple of years have been recovery years due to the slowdown during Covid. Â We have also realized that the most underserved in our community are adults with disabilities. Â When that bus stops coming, families realize that the services they have come to rely on through school districts are not there for adults. Â Accessibility to transportation, housing, recreation and social opportunities are almost nonexistent in Frisco. Â Our goal is to address the gaps in services methodically by creating awareness and promoting acceptance. Â Frisco, Texas prides itself on having something for everyone, so why should the disability community be any different? Â
What do we need to make Frisco the most welcoming to those with disabilities? Â We need people who are invested in being the change, putting in the effort and helping us raise both awareness and funds. Â Some of specific things we need:
- Board and committee members
- Grant writers
- Volunteers who can provide classes or help organize social events
- Advocates who can meet with city officials, attend city council meetings and help raise awareness
- Funding for meeting space
- Businesses who will be the first to receive Disability Welcoming certification
- Companies willing to allow on-site job training or even would be willing to to hire someone with a disability to work part time.
- Networking opportunities
- Entrepreneurs and investors who can help us with our disability business incubator program
- Families who wish to see their family member with a disability thrive and are willing to help create the community that will support them living to their fullest potential.Â
