Our Needs
Dallas is a city brimming with energy, powered by more than 1.3 million residents who bring vibrancy to our community. At the heart of this dynamic, bustling city is the Dallas Police Department, working around the clock to ensure the safety and well-being of both residents and the millions of visitors who travel to Dallas each year.
Right now, the 3,700 dedicated men and women of DPD are on the front lines and behind the scenes, performing invaluable and valiant work that many of us will never hear about. Their dedication ensures our city remains strong and secure.
The Friends of the Dallas Police is honored to support and recognize these exceptional officers and staff members. Each year, we come together to celebrate the outstanding individuals who exemplify the best of public service – those whose bravery, commitment and compassion truly make a difference in our community. This banquet serves as the official annual awards ceremony of the Dallas Police Department, a tradition that formally honors those who have gone above and beyond in their service.
We invite you to join us as we salute the remarkable men and women of DPD at the 44th-annual Friends of the Dallas Police Awards Banquet, on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Dallas. With hundreds of awards given out – including Officer of the Year, Detective of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Professional Staff Employee of the Year and Telecommunicator of the Year – the event offers a wonderful opportunity to shine a light on these unsung heroes. All awards are determined through nominations reviewed and selected by the DPD Meritorious Conduct Board. The Chief of Police personally selects the top awards from the board’s final recommendations. Chief of Police, Daniel Comeaux will present the awards to each recipient during the ceremony.
We hope you will join us in paying tribute to these dedicated men and women and supporting Friends of the Dallas Police. Your donation will help us procure awards, extend invitations to sworn and non-sworn employees and their families, and host recognition events throughout the year to commend DPD units for their outstanding meritorious achievements.
With your support, the Friends of the Dallas Police can continue its time-honored tradition of celebrating DPD’s most devoted officers and employees who sacrifice so much to safeguard our city.
